Hillcrest considers homework a very important component of learning because it
helps develop work habits and self discipline in children and provides
opportunities for individualised work. It also helps parents to gain insight of their
children’s school work. Parents are advised not to be tempted to do homework
themselves as this will deny children a chance to revise concepts learnt in the
classroom. They (parents) are only required to sign the children’s diaries as
confirmation that homework has been done. It is within the parents’/ teachers’
rights to make appointments to see the teachers/ parents concerning children’s
progress at any time of the academic year.
