Since attaining independence in 1966 Botswana has come a long way in
progressing as a dynamic force in the region with a vibrant economy, a
peace loving population and a working democracy, that remains committed,
making it a modern and technologically advanced nation.
The role of education in nation building can neither be over- emphasised nor
overlooked in the overall development of the national economy and
achievement of prominence in the international community. In this context
the availability and accessibility of English Medium instruction both at Pre-
School and Primary levels play a significant role in nation building. It is
through the provision of education that leaders of tomorrow can be nurtured.
The population growth in the city of Gaborone has put the existing
infrastructure and educational services under such great pressure that even
the vast resources of the government have been exhaustively utilised and a
collaborative need currently exists for the provision of more educational
facilities. Thus, Hillcrest International School, Gaborone seeks to fulfil this
need as an addition to the existing network of English Medium Schools.
In order to take its stake in the national economic development by offering
quality education of international standard, Hillcrest International School
was established in 1993 at Aedume Park, Mogoditshane and later moved to
the current premises at Plot 28436, Block 3 Gaborone West in January
1998.
